“How do we bring a lot of this wisdom from these old cultures that have been around for centuries…in to our way of living now?” – Frank Lipman, MD

Frank Lipman, MD

Frank Lipman, MD works to bring new modalities into partnership with Western medicine using an evidence-based approach. In this episode, Dr. Lipman explores a new hybrid path between allopathic and Functional Medicine to discover a higher potential for health and happiness.

Dr. Lipman received his initial medical training South Africa, and spent 18 months working at clinics in the bush, becoming familiar with the local traditional healers. In 1984, he immigrated to the United States, and became the chief medical resident at Lincoln Hospital in Bronx, NY. He began studying nutrition, acupuncture, Chinese medicine, herbal medicine, functional medicine and biofeedback after witnessing the hospital’s use of acupuncture to treat people suffering from heroin and crack addiction. In 1992, he founded the Eleven Eleven Wellness Center in the heart of downtown Manhattan – one of the first clinics to integrate these varied modalities.
